Jakob Blomer
From Self-Organizing Systems Group
Jakob joined the group in 2009. He is currently working on the CernVM project at CERN in Geneva. CernVM is a Linux virtual machine assembled to deliver scientific software to computing centers and physicists's laptops around the world. Jakob looks for ways to form a dynamic, co-operating network out of a plain bunch of such virtual machines. One of the main ingredients is a scalable software distribution network making virtual machines benefit from work already done by other CernVM nodes. This links CernVM to the IgorFS peer-to-peer file system.
From 2004 to 2008 Jakob studied computer science and information law at the University of Karlsruhe. He graduated with a Diplom.
